Mitch Bass is an Iraq War veteran with a fascinating life story. In part 1, Mitch will talk about the impact of not knowing your biological father, spending a year in Mongolia with his family on a religious mission around 8th grade, returning to Iowa and living without his mom and step dad as they returned to Mongolia for religious missionary work, joining the army and deploying to the middle east in 2004 and returning home in 2006 to go to the University of Iowa. Mitch will tell harrowing stories about being deployed. The first episode ends with the very beginning of his second deployment. In episode 2, Mitch picks up his story at the start of his second deployment to the Middle East around 2006. He talks about his experience on his second deployment and how vastly different it was from his first. He talks about returning to the States a second time to start a family, and eventually realizing he was struggling immensely with PTSD. He talks about how discovering yoga, breathing work, and meditation saved his life. The episode ends with his journey to becoming a yoga instructor.
